SCORM that actually works.
Upload a SCORM ZIP and your course is ready to launch, as pre-work for a course date or as e-learning in its own right. Full runtime compliance for SCORM 1.2 and 2004, no configuration and no debugging.
SCORM 1.2 and 2004 on every provider plan.
SCORM hosting means storing your e-learning packages and playing them back so they track properly: completion, scores, time spent, and where each learner left off. The hard part is never the storage; it is the runtime. SCORM content talks to the platform through a specific JavaScript interface, and if any part of that handshake is missing or slow, courses appear to load but silently fail to record progress. That is the failure mode that turns a compliance programme into a guessing game.
Hotline implements the full SCORM 1.2 and 2004 runtime, so the packages you exported from Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, iSpring, or Lectora behave exactly as their authors intended. You upload a ZIP, we parse the manifest and validate it, and the course is live with tracking that holds up to an audit. If you want the standard explained from scratch first, read What is SCORM?
Upload to launch in three steps.
Upload your ZIP
Drag and drop your SCORM package. We accept ZIP files up to 2 GB containing SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 content.
We handle the rest
Hotline extracts the package, parses the imsmanifest.xml, identifies SCO entry points, and validates all referenced files.
Learners start learning
The course is live. Progress, scores, bookmarks, and suspend data sync automatically. Learners can pause and resume any time.
Full runtime compliance.
SCORM 1.2
The most widely used versionThe most widely used SCORM standard. Our runtime exposes the full window.API object with all required methods.
- LMSInitialize / LMSFinish
- LMSGetValue / LMSSetValue
- LMSCommit with auto-save fallback
- Full cmi.core data model
- Score tracking (raw, min, max)
- Lesson status & completion
- Bookmarking (lesson_location)
- Suspend data (up to 4 KB)
- Session & total time tracking
SCORM 2004
Sequencing and navigationThe newer standard with sequencing and navigation support. Exposes window.API_1484_11 with the full cmi data model.
- Initialize / Terminate
- GetValue / SetValue / Commit
- Full cmi data model
- Sequencing & navigation
- Scaled score support
- Completion & success status
- Interactions tracking
- Suspend data (up to 64 KB)
- Learner preferences
Built for reliability.
Moving SCORM content from another LMS
Because SCORM is a portable standard, your courses are not locked to your current platform. The package that runs there is the same ZIP that runs here. Migration is usually just re-uploading the files; the parts that trip teams up are the details below, and Hotline is built to handle them.
Bookmarks and suspend data survive
Resume position (lesson_location) and the content's own saved state (suspend_data) are persisted on every commit, so a learner who closes the tab halfway through a 90-minute course returns to the exact slide they left, not the start.
Progress is not lost to a crash
The runtime commits to the server when the content calls commit, and also auto-saves every 60 seconds as a fallback. A dropped connection or a closed laptop lid does not wipe a learner's session.
Completion that reflects real work
You can require a minimum passing score from a SCORM quiz before a course counts as complete. Completion then means the learner passed, not that they clicked Next until the bar filled.
Large, video-heavy packages are fine
ZIP uploads are supported up to 2 GB, so courses with embedded video do not need to be stripped down or split before they will upload. Files are validated against the manifest so a missing asset is caught before learners ever see a broken slide.
SCORM hosting questions
Hotline has full runtime support for SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004. SCORM 1.2 covers the large majority of training content; SCORM 2004 adds sequencing, navigation, and a larger data model when you need them. Both are on every provider plan. On employer plans, SCORM 1.2 is on every plan and SCORM 2004 starts on Professional: see the employer plan comparison.
You drag and drop the SCORM ZIP into your course. Hotline extracts it, parses the imsmanifest.xml to find the entry point, validates that referenced files exist, and makes the course playable. There is no manual configuration step.
Completion and pass/fail status, raw and scaled scores, time spent per session and in total, resume position (bookmarking), and the content's own suspend data. SCORM 2004 packages can additionally report question-level interactions. All of it appears in your admin analytics.
Yes. Progress is committed to the server when the content requests it and auto-saved every 60 seconds as a fallback, so an interrupted session is not lost. Learners resume exactly where they left off.
In almost all cases, yes. SCORM is a portable standard, so the same package that runs on your current platform will run on Hotline. Migration is typically just re-uploading the ZIP files; learner records are imported separately.
Up to 2 GB per ZIP, which comfortably covers courses with embedded video. You do not need to compress or split large packages before uploading.
